By the time you get this, my wife will be 35 weeks and 1 day pregnant! Wow how time flies…. we haven’t done this since 2022 so we are trying to get reacquainted with the “time warp” or pregnancy.
For those of you who’ve been around long enough, 2022 was the year we moved up here to Escondido, and as exciting as it was, it was the hardest postpartum that we could’ve ever had.

One of our associates left two weeks after our son was born and our son’s healing journey was one of a lot of uncertainty and worry. If you want to know, Moore, check out his podcast episodes here.
Our postpartum with our oldest almost 7 years ago now, my wife lost all of her friends because of our choices around birth and around whether or not we were going to vaccinate our children. And it was basically in the thick of Covid.
I’m not telling you all this for sympathy. But I wanted to tell you that this time around, I made a pledge to my wife that I am deeply committed to making this the best postpartum for her, the baby and our family.

It’s redemption time you know?
You may already know this, but we do not subscribe to the conventional thought that birth is an emergency and that pregnancy is a condition to be managed by non-medical providers.
We brought our babies at home with incredible midwives who know how to create an optimal experience for mom and baby – the whole family really.
My wife and I have been around birth for the last 12 years of our relationship. And I’ve been studying yet since before I was a Chiropractor. Birth experiences mostly driven by the conventional medical birth industry (yes, it is an industry) produce a normalized trauma in our babies and moms today.
This “storm” is one key factor in the major root cause of our children’s chronic health issues, especially neurodevelopmental challenges.
If you talk to people who study ancestral tribes, fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are sacred and healing. You know they really don’t have words for “ infertility “ and depression; conditions so normalized in modern times.
So I see it as my personal mission to give to my wife, the powerful time that all women deserve – a sacred and healing, birth and postpartum – and for families like ours a redemptive one.
It’s wild to have this conversation, knowing that I’ve studied this for almost 20 years now. And have served so many in our county but still have to be so intentional about this.

We’ve done all the work to see where we went wrong, and we’ve done all the work to heal at the Root, but the healing comes truly when we get back in the arena.
For another birth.
For another beautiful Hom baby.
We will have a postpartum Doula.
We are hiring a mother’s helper.
We are setting up a meal service.
My parents and in-laws have agreed to come out at separate strategic times to support us.
Speaking of postpartum support.. if you’re a birth worker, healthcare provider, or someone passionate about helping new mothers thrive, don’t miss Eyla Cuenca’s upcoming Postpartum Doula Training.
Doors close TOMORROW July 7th, so if you’ve been thinking about joining, this is your reminder to register before enrollment closes.
We’re actively interviewing and recruiting associate chiropractors to join our team, and we currently have four incredible candidates. Depending on the timing, our office hours should remain unchanged, which means your care will continue seamlessly while I’m away.
As for postpartum, the plan is for me to step away for 4-6 weeks to be fully present with my family. But this isn’t about pressing pause—it’s about creating something even better. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sharing everything we’ve been building behind the scenes.

My hope is that while I’m home, our entire community—including me—becomes healthier, more connected, and more engaged than ever before.
Yes, I know it’s Summer, yes I know there’s a lot going on, and yes, I know that you all are gonna miss me 🙂 but I’ve been doing this for a long time.
I’ve been taking some of the most difficult and complex situations and coming out of them better, stronger, and more committed than ever. To my health, to my success and especially to yours.
If you know someone who would love to support our family as a mother’s helper, please share this link with them so they can apply: https://forms.gle/BV8RfLTwVEdoEZ1r7
I’m also excited to share that we’ll be launching an amazing online community where you can connect with other like-minded families, find encouragement, and grow together.
Inside, we’ll be sharing curated health content, practical tips you can actually implement, fun health challenges, live Q&As, and behind-the-scenes insights.
Our hope is to create a space that’s supportive, uplifting, and full of people who want to learn, encourage one another, and take simple, meaningful steps toward a healthier life.
