I haven’t written one of these in a while!
Needless to say, we are so stoked that the Kisers have brought their little DREAM into this world. Jack Vincent Kiser was born 2/27/23 and he’s one of the most beautiful babies I have ever been blessed to meet.
This month we are talking about two topics that may sound seemingly unrelated (to the untrained eye and ear) but they couldn’t be more related and foundational to normalizing vibrant health for ALL generations.
Allergies and Detoxification are hot topics these days and we are going to talk about them in a very unique way.
Most of us know the Liver is the primary organ responsible for detoxification.
Most of us have heard about Leaky Gut. Where toxins can penetrate the body through a porous gut lining and then affect how the body heals or not because everything that gets through the gut barrier gets into some areas of the brain that have no blood brain barrier.
Most of us have heard about the blood brain barrier and how we can help keep it robust and strong.
Many of us have heard of the lymphatic system and drainage.
Most of us have never heard that the brain has NO blood brain barrier in key areas (Unless you listened to this podcast episode here)
Areas of the brain that have NO protection from the BBB.
- Hypothalamus
- Posterior Pituitary
- Circumventricular Organs
- Area Postrema, Subfornical Organ, Median Eminence
Needless to say, these are areas of the brain which help the body self-heal and self-regulate.
Most of us have never heard in 2015, scientists at University of Virginia discovered the lymphatic system exists in the brain. How it took science so many centuries to find the anatomy responsible for the brain to cleanse itself is beyond me… the Google says we have dissected the human body for study since the 3rd Century BC.
Most of us don’t understand the most foundational way for lymph to flow through the body and out of the cranium and brain.
Let’s get into all of it.
I would be remiss if I didn’t cover some of the most essential supplements anyone could take to help protect you from the ever-toxic world.
First, arguably the most censored supplement in the world over the last 3 years is NAC: N-Acetyl Cysteine. Why? It helped with COVID, they pulled it from Amazon for a while. Some patients have told us this is the most efficient nutrient to help with restoring taste and smell. NAC helps so effectively because it helps the body restore glutathione – one of the most important antioxidants that most humans are highly deficient in. Also, through cysteine, NAC is a sulfur group donor. Sulfur being one of the most foundational minerals known to be very deficient in the modern diet and world.
Second, Humic and Fulvic Minerals have been a hot topic in the last few years and for good reason. We know our topsoil is depleted of many essential nutrients and minerals with the chronic state of monocropping our conventional farming industry. What we don’t know is even our ‘organic’ food supply can never be as nutritious as food grown ‘sustainably’ and ‘regeneratively’. Ask any local farmer, there is a big difference between the three categories of farming. Humic and Fulvic minerals have been shown to restore our barriers (build better protection against toxicity), promote a healthy microbiome and many other beneficial physiological functions.
Third, activated charcoal (often found in coconut and bamboo forms) has been shown to be very effective at pulling toxins out of the body. Charcoal works by adsorption. The porous nature of charcoal creates a negatively charged state which attracts positively charged molecules (toxins and gasses) out of the body.
Fourth, we need LIVER or COD LIVER OIL to allow the body to rebuild our liver and improve hepatic function. This is necessary because if we do not nourish the systems responsible for our metabolism and detoxification, then we are likely to recreate the same chronic problems. Liver provides Vitamin A, Choline, Folate, Vitamin B12, CoQ10, Bioavailable Iron, and Hyaluronic Acid. Better liver function will contribute to a multitude of other systems that improve whole body self-healing and self-regulation. .
How does this relate to allergies?
Allergies are very much a drainage issue.
Think about any drain in your home and what happens if it gets backed up.
Think about the sludge, the stagnance and festering of microbes.
The system in the body responsible for drainage of the body and brain is the lymphatic system. As stated above, the lymphatic system of the brain was not discovered until 2015. But ask any chiropractor, we know how to help the brain drain inflammation and how to get the fluids to move.
Many of us have seen ear infections literally drain while patients are still on the table. Many patients verbalize when their sinuses clear.
Let’s be clear about one thing however, this is not a treatment for ear or sinus infections.
This is root cause healing. This is the type of healing that has NO replacement.
As with everything else with chiropractic, it is structural and functional.
This is neurostructural integrity.
If the body moves better and is more aligned, the lymph drains better – just like any other plumbing problem.
If the lymph drains better, the body detoxes and self-cleans and removes the congestion.
If the body moves better and is more aligned, the brain can communicate to the body better.
If the brain can communicate better, the body will self-regulate better.
Literally every tissue of the body does what it is made to do because of neural communication.
The spleen, the circulatory system, the hepatic system, the immune system, the kidneys, the lymph, ALL OF IT, it self-regulated by the nervous system.
Why does this matter?
We need all of the above.
We need the building blocks of nutrition to drive biochemical and physiological function.
We need the neuromechanics of the body to have sound mobility and alignment for proper fluid flow.
We need optimal neural communication to orchestrate all of it.
Let’s go back to those regions that have NO blood brain barrier.

While this may ‘confuse’ you with big words and anatomical lingo, you should know this. These are foundational areas of the brain which require optimal performance in order to optimize self-healing and self-regulation.
Does this mean you have to be perfect?
Never be exposed to toxins ever?
Kind of, but not completely.
At Future Generations, we know pathologically purifying your life is problematic. Orthorexia is a real thing. Putting yourself and your family in a ‘bubble’ is not a short or long term solution. We saw this in real time with the multifaceted traumatic experience of 2020’s unending “state of emergency” and lockdowns.
Exposure to toxins is absolutely ‘healthy’ for some toxins and some people.
This is called Hormesis. Our systems need to be challenged. I make this more practical by asking the question: “is ALL stress bad?” or as our family’s sleep expert asked us “is ALL crying bad?”. The answer is no.
AND we all have to understand SOME toxins are non-hormetic. Where there is NO safe level our genetics or nervous system can adapt to. NONE. Things like glyphosate, MSG, Aluminum, PFAS, most sugar substitutes, excitotoxins and others are NEVER safe at any level.
In the end, it’s most important to recognize that our world is only growing more toxic, especially with the recent ‘accidental’ toxic spills, the release of 5G (which destroys our blood brain barrier) and the continued calculated stress and anxiety flooding our nervous systems.
Guess what? That can and more than likely will keep happening.
BUT none of that compares to our radical healing capacity we all have when we truly make a committed effort to reconcile the environment we choose to live in and navigate and maintain the neurostructural integrity of our nervous system. When our environment is as pure and sufficient as possible and our nervous systems are optimized, we will know what true self-healing and resiliency is.
